Seashell Leg Warmers

I made seashell leg warmers to match my daughter’s mermaid outfit she wore on her first birthday. Even though her birthday is in late spring, it ended up being a cooler day so they were actually fitting for the weather. I used my SEASHELL APPLIQUÉ on the leg warmers. See below for my pattern if you are interested in making a pair.

Seashell Leg Warmers

I made these leg warmers to match my daughter’s outfit for her mermaid-themed first birthday party. Therefore, they are made to fit most 12-month-olds. The pattern will need to be adjusted to fit babies and toddlers of different ages/sizes. Simply add/delete stitches to each round to make them wider or narrower and add/delete rounds to make them longer or shorter.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

The leg warmer is about 10 inches long and about 3½ inches wide when laid flat. The seashell appliqué is about 2½ inches wide and 2 inches tall.

ASSEMBLY

Use a small tapestry needle and a long strand of your light purple yarn to attach a seashell to the front of each leg warmer by sewing the shell down along its perimeter. You might want to try the leg warmer on and use a safety pin to mark where you want them placed before sewing them to the warmer. Make sure to secure your yarn on the inside of the leg warmer when you are finished.

***Once you have finished sewing your shells to the leg warmers, you are finished and the leg warmers are ready to be worn!
