BreastCancerandPregnancyInfantLoss

In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month as well as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, I created a crochet pattern for their support ribbons. Make one to show your support!

Child Loss Awareness Ribbon:

PregnancyandInfantLoss

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

– 3 inches tall

– Approx. 1 ¼ inches wide at top of ribbon

– Approx. 1 ½ inches wide at bottom of ribbon

MATERIALS

– 3.75mm (F) hook

– Worsted weight yarn (4) in pink (I used Red Heart Super Saver in Petal Pink)

– Worsted weight yarn (4) in baby blue (I used Red Heart Super Saver in Light Blue)

– Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

– Scissors

ABBREVIATIONS

– ch = chain

– sc = single crochet

– st = stitch

DIRECTIONS

Row 1: Using pink yarn, ch 2, sc in 2nd ch from hook (the first ch that was made). (1 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. (1 sc)

Rows 3–14: Repeat row 2 (ribbon should measure 3 ¼ inches at the end of row 14).

Row 15: Attach blue yarn, drop pink yarn, ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. (1 sc)

Row 16– 28: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. (1 sc). Ribbon should measure about 6 ½ inches; fasten off and weave in all loose ends on ribbon.

**Note: When I weaved in the blue and pink ends in the middle of the ribbon, I tried to make the middle look as clean as possible so it looks like a straight line where the blue color meets the pink color.

ASSEMBLY

Hold the ribbon so the pink side is on the left and the blue side is on the right. Cross the blue side over the pink side as shown in final picture. Using your tapestry needle and blue yarn, sew together where the blue section crosses the pink section being careful only to take the needle through the top of the stitches of the pink section so you do not see the blue yarn on the back of the pink.

You are now ready to use or wear your ribbon. You may wish to use a pin to attach to clothes, hats, etc.
